why do we like it so?

hey all, I no most peaple think that oot is the best zelda game ever, but i was curious, why? So post why you liked the game. Im interested, ive always loved oot, because it was my first zelda, the first 3d zelda, and the story line was unbeatable. not to mention i loved the equipment screen(shame they took that out of mm).

It broke Zelda into 3D
It had an awesome, traditional storyline
We went through a long drought of no Zelda before it came out
The game imroved upon most every contemporary control scheme of Zelda; Z targeting enemies, better offensive maneuvering, etc.

Most importantly, the REPLAY VALUE of the game is like no other. Still to this day we find new things about the game.

Not to mention, if you're old school like me, then this game would have blown your mind. Watching it develop to Z64 was beyond what I ever expected. I guess if your somewhat new (or like above, OoT was first Z game played) then you would obviously feel different.

Why? There's so many reasons, I can't possibly name them all! The storyline's cool, the dungeons are cool, the songs are cool, the items are cool, Link himself is soooo cute, the dungeon bosses were cool, the game had a good difficulty, the crescent moon symbol WAS cool (until they took it out ), the enemies were cool, and best of all...it's got brave and handsome Adult Link.

There's many more reasons why I love this game so much too, hehe.

A few reasons why OOT was a great game:

-It was the first 3D Zelda game.

-It was the first game ever to use a lock-on feature.

-The story was good (I can't say best. Xenogears takes that one.)

-The sheer magnitude of it was good.

-The gameplay was excellent.

Many other reasons as well.

OOT was defiantly a good game. I wish there were more Action Adventure games that are like the 3D Zelda games. The gameplay is what I like the most about OOT. And also the fact that you don't have to go into a battle scenario (e.g. Pokemon, A HUGE majority of the FF games, etc.). Everything just happens right there and then. Battles, dialogue, and whatever else. I want more games like that.

But, OOT is in the past. I'm not saying OOT isn't one of the best games ever. It's just that you can't really compare a game that was made in 1997, to games now. It will always be one of the best games of all time on my eyes, but I don't like to focus in on the past so much. But that's just me. *prepares for a fanboy horde*

ok, first off stoney, link cute? w/e anyway killswitch brought up a great point, the z targeting. It always seemed that the gb and nes/snes games lacked abbility to fight, i mean its sprites, well aol had an interesting fighting style, but the z targeting was deffinatly one of the reasons i loved this game so (aside from storyline, sidequest, items, etc.

yes, as dark link said(ps like ur avatar) the battle scenarios were great, it was nice for there to be a real time fighter game thats good, final fantasy gets boring game after game, not that its a bad series i love ff, its just that real time keeps the pulse of the game moving!

what makes OoT one of my favourite games is because...

-I liked the storyline,
- it was the first time we actualy got to play Zelda in a 3D world.
- Had some nice side quests
- Fun miny game type things
- the many places you can travel

well anyways you get the picture.

One reason was it was the first 3d Zelda game ever created and because of the storyline as well it astonished many people because of how realistic it was at the time most people became fans of zelda because of this game I'm included in that bunch. It was my first Zelda game I played.

What do you mean, Link cute? I think he's good looking alright? You got a problem with that?!

No im just saying i didn't think he looked cute in that game, he looked (dare i say it, might ruin my manlyness, lol just kidding) cute in ww being all cartoony and stuff, but if you think he looked cute in oot thats ur opinion, sorry if I offended you.

EDIT: oh i forgot to say, Once a girl in one of my classes (back when ww came out) got a gamecube for christmas and got the ww demo disc with it, and she thought link was insanely cute in that. She was always nagging me to draw her a pic of link, so in the end i did to shut up here nagging, just felt like sharing that story.

Why I like OoT?
- Mainly because of the great storyline and the 3D-graphics.
- I also liked the atmosphere, Ganondorf destroying Hyrule and the huge pressure the Sages put upon Link.
- The environment was bigger than any game I had played at that time.
- Every single character seemed very realistic to me

3D Zelda.....done extremely well. Quite a few places gave it perfect scores. I would have to agree. Too many times I've seen games go from 2D to 3D and they are horrible(Castlevania for the 64). Zelda didnt miss a beat.

It's just... good...

The 3D was a major part about it, but my favorite was the gameplay itself. I like fighting those enemies and stuff. Also the storyline, that was a really good storyline. It was serious and hilarious all at the same time. And I liked the swords.

I LIKE SWORDS

Okay.....

- It was so long, and there was plenty to do on there.
- The fishing mini-game
- It was in 3D
- The fact that you couldn't be hurt on Epona
- Loved the story....
- And finally the battles were great, the fact that Link moved with the slightest touch.

It was just a fantastic game, and easily the best in the series. (so far ) The game's like 8 years old, and I still think it's like the best game I've ever played. I seriously can't find a better game....

It was the first 3d zelda.The music was execellent.The levels were harder .And the story line was awesome.

Jesus Christ, am I the only one who loves OoT the best NOT because it was the first 3D Zelda game? I mean, what does that have to do with anything? I'm sure if AoL was made in 3D first, then OoT, it wouldn't be loved because of that. I've heard this game is hard and not very good. But AoL was never made in 3D, so I prove my point. I have a number of better reasons to love OoT so much than that it was the first 3D Zelda game:

Dungeons
Music
Enemies
Adult Link is the best looking Link
Dungeon Bosses
The Crescent Moon symbol (it got taken out, though, for stupid reasons)
The medallions and Spiritual Stones were pretty.
The Ocarina of Time looks pretty.

And many more...

Hey, i love OOT, it is the best zelda game created so far, and probably will be till we die, but not because it is 3D, OOT had the best story of all the zelda games, the characters were amazing, the dungeons make you think really hard and have the right music to go with the area, i mean, y does evry1 like it because it is 3d???
