Famicom LOZ used controller's microphone
I read from various sources that the Famicom version of LOZ used the controller's microphone. I did a few searches and found the following uses for the microphone. I wanted to know if anyone knows of a list or a website that further details all its uses in the game or if anyone has any more for my list. I never heard of this until yesterday. Nintendo was so ahead of its time.
1) A passage in the manual for The Legend of Zelda states that Pols Voices hate loud noises, however for non-Japanese players, this has been a source of confusion. The only item in the game that produces a sound, the recorder, has no effect on Pols Voice. The passage actually describes a feature of the Japanese Famicom version of the game; if the player made a sound into the Famicom controller's built-in microphone, Pols Voice would be slain.
2) certain ghosts will run away in fear when you blow into the mic
3) you can negotiate prices with the merchants
note: 2 and 3 were from someone selling famciom LOZ on ebay so I wouldn't trust it completely. I read about the Pols voice on numerous websites however.
