I'm a little interested in who actually owned this game when it was released and who here just played the ROM. I of course, grew up on the SNES and gazed at this game behind the glass for what seemed like months wanting to get my hands on it. (Same with ALTTP) The release, however, was indeed overshadowed by the release of the N64 and Super Mario 64, making quite a few miss out on it.
Fun fact: SMRPG was my first RPG.

For the Final Fantasies, get/wait for the GBA releases or get the PSX version. The rereleases have better graphics, better difficulty, FMVs and extras on the PSX, (WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE GBA RELEASES AS WELL HINT HINT POKE POKE), and play all around better. I would also recommend getting Final Fantasy Chronicles for the PSX to get Chrono Trigger, since the PSX release has AMAZING Anime FMVs, especially the ending. Plus, the prologue of Chrono Cross is only in the PSX version.
And Secret of Mana is really due for a remake. If Final Fantasy Adventure was, then Secret of Mana is Looooooong overdue. Though I'll have my Mana fix with Mana IV and Children of Mana (woot for finally a GOOD portable RPG on the next (now current (DS and PSP, not GBA)) generation handheld consles.)
