Sorry for bringing up Shan when it was clear that she was for the BA but if that was the cause then you wouldn't have brought up Sheinron in the same profile. As soon as someone sees Shan on the list of BA characters along with people already mentioned in the story they get curios(or is that just me). Plus, once they learn that Sheinron is involved they may look up Sheinron's profile and notice that Link could have freed her during his trip to Ranelu.
Also, when I mentioned that Link should have taken the Master Sword, that doesn't mean he couldn't take it when he was escaping the castle. Instead, even though he then knew how powerful Nottuu was by then, he again ignored the sword and gave back the stones(and he could have power against Nottuu and escape marrying Ruto at the same time).

If you read Shan's profile correctly you would have seen that she was not imprisoned by Sheinron during the time Link was in Ranelu. In fact, she was in the war and even after that she doesn't meet Sheinron for a whole year. I know my characters very well

And about the Master Sword. Link doesn't think it is truly needed yet, he confident in his own skills at the current moment with his normal blade.
