The way some of the posts were worded triggered something in me to realize this. It's like all the philosophy's Calvin has are things we think of when we are kids, that idealistic, innocent, and untainted way of thinking; Waterson just words it incredibly well and shows the humor in it. He also shows how that attitude in children makes them a bit wiser (sometimes) than their parents. Children haven't become a slave to routine and monotony the way adults have and that's why Calvin has such a great imagination and can make things fun and see the raw logic behind something showing how stupid it really is... man that's an awesome comic. To quote Calvin, "nothing ruins fun like finding out it builds character."
As soon as I get home I'm going to read some Calvin and Hobbes.
