Re: Character List

Name: Latio Scaptur
Age: 22
Race: foxfolk
Sex: male
Hair: silver-white
Eyes: Latio’s eyes are pupil-less
Weight: 145 lbs
Height: 6' 2"

Weapons: Latio’s claws act as natural weapons, and his biometal, explained below, also adds to his arsenal.

Armour: A cotton shirt and pants lined with mythril, offering minor protection from attacks. Latio wears mythril-lined clothing that cannot be torn or pierced. However Latio feels every blow like it hit his bear body but due to it’s durability no major wounds can be inflicted through this cloth.

His biometal, explained in greater detail below, can also add armour in several different ways. Firstly, it can bond to his skin and fur, creating a rough, tooth-like texture, as well as creating a strong reinforcement wherever it is located. Secondly, Latio can bend it to the form of a protective dome, wall or otherwise, it’s durability dependant on how thinly spread it is.

Strengths: Due to Latio’s blindness, he has had to strengthen his other senses to make up for it. His sense of smell and sound are well above that of even the hardest-trained tracking dog. Another side effect of these strengthened senses grants Latio an ability to sniff out poisons, detect traps, foresee ambushes, and other otherwise unexpected experiences.

Weakness: Due to Latio’s sensitive hearing, loud noises can cause flinching, temporary deafness, and occasionally massive headaches. Also, due to his fur, he doesn’t like water or getting wet, but does not fear it.

Skills/Magic:

Elemental: Latio has innate control over the elements of wind, fire, lightning, and all their components. However, the elements must already be in existence in the immediate area to use.

Biometal: Latio’s biometal is a sentient, liquid, living blob of bluish-silver metal which shares a symbiotic relationship with the foxfolk. It is telepathically linked to Latio to the point of being another limb, and can usually be found absorbed into the muscles of the fox’s left arm, where a severed nerve prevents direct control. This biometal has, over time, fused itself to Latio’s cell structure, and the foxfolk now continually generates the substance, and at an alarming rate, causing wounds to heal up quicker than normal, and granting his bones immense strength. The liquid has also turned Latio’s skin to a half-skin, half-metal full body armour.

The biometal’s main mass can be morphed into any shape, including a variety of weapons, Latio’s favourites being the rapier and the katana. The metal can also spread itself over the Latio’s fur, creating a texture of rough, irregular razor blades that doubles as a thick armour.

Personality: Latio likes to keep to himself. If he does happen to get into a group, he will try to stay in the back. He is very kind-hearted, and shrugs off most insults. However, if someone insults him with a particularly witty insult, he can snip back the same level of sarcasm. He is in a relationship with Ranarath’s character Kai Chosen.

Appearance:
Please not that the blue armour is only worn during planned encounters; when he is not prepared for the battle he only wears the beige robe (which has the properties explained in "Armour").

History: Latio was born in the land of Kalimdor, along with 3 older brothers and two younger twin sisters. Foxfolk are born with their eyes shut, just as foxes are. While their eyes are shut, they are taught basic battle skills, using their ears to verify where the attacks are coming from. When the foxes turn twelve, they open their eyes to see the world, as well as hear it. Latio did not witness this experience. On Latio’s birthday when his mother told him and his siblings opened their eyes, they scattered in many directions, except Latio...“I-I can’t see!”

“Why, of course you can!” Latainia Scaptur, Latio’s mother, exclaimed. “We foxfolk are supposed to have the keenest eyesight in Kalimdor!”

“Really, I can’t!” Latio shouted.

“This must be a curse, you’re a demon!”

Of course, Latio isn’t a demon. His blindness is due to a birth defect; he doesn’t have any pupils (the things in the middle of you’re eyes that let in light).
“I’m not a demon, really, if I was a demon, I’d have ripped all you’re lungs out by now”

“Latio, the demon, you are to leave this land immediately”

“B-but I’m n-not a d-d-demon!”

“Get out of this land, or I will call your ‘siblings’ and they will kill you”

“May I get my things, though?”

“No. LARIA, LOTAE, LAKET, there’s a demon in the den, and its name is Latio!” In less than a second, Latio had three short swords at his throat.

“I knew it all along!” Laria exclaimed. “He was always playing those mean pranks on us”

“That was Laket doing all the pranks!” Latio answered. In reality, Latio never played a prank his entire fourteen-year life.

“Kill the demon prankster!” Lotae shouted!

Latio then kicked Laket (the least experienced fighter) and made him drop his sword. Latio grabbed the sword and cut off the other two foxfolks hands off. He then got up and ran out the “door” of the den, and into the forest.

Latio travelled for two months, and survived by hunting deer (which, when you have enhanced hearing, are actually very loud) and begging. He passed many towns, until, while traversing a desert wasteland, he heard a cackling sound. He remembered his father’s teachings about the wilderness “If you ever hear a menacing cackling sound, you’ve encountered the forest Skull Kids.” Latio then remembered that he was in a wasteland, not a forest. “These must be those ‘Moon Children’ I heard about in the village” Latio said to himself.

The Moon Children are a group of six skull kids who were born on the night of the full moon. The moon then spoke to them, through telepathy, and gave them masks, along with new names: Awlodo, Thog, Groyg, Niwt, Dluom and Majora. “I have given you a new chance,” the moon whispered to the skull kids “now you will serve me.”
So the skull kids made a meeting place, in a wasteland, far away from their forest home, where they could always see the moon, and that is where they have lived and survived

“Yep, sure sounds like these ‘Moon Children!’”
They were chanting some sort of ritual, and a very loud ritual it was, so it was easy for Latio to sneak up on them.

When Latio was close enough, he called to them. “Moon Children, I would like a place to live, and I would be willing to join your moon clan.”

“Sorry, we were chosen by the moon goddess to serve her, but she did mention a prophecy in which a being the colour of the moon would come and take the place one of our places…”

Latio quickly drew Laket’s sword and slew the closest Moon Child, who happened to be Awlodo. “There, prophecy is fulfilled. Now can I join?”

“Um…” all the Moon Children backed up. “Sure, but not without the proper vestments!”

Majora quickly ran off into some sort of hidden hole in the ground, and after rummaging around he found a brought out a scale mail t-shirt that seemed like pure silver, yet felt as hard as steel. The Moon Children called it silver mythril. They explained to Latio that silver was the colour of the moon, and Majora quickly slipped back into the hidden hole, and brought out a vest, which smelt of old demonhide. Latio asked what the demonhide represented, and the Children chuckled "It’s the only thing we’ve got that fits you!" They quickly garbed Latio in the new armour, and Majora wrenched from Awlodo’s hand a beautiful scimitar, longer than Latio is tall, made up of the same material the scale mail was, and Majora cackled "Welcome to our Moon tribe, Awlodo, our new warrior!"

Soon after his recruitment, Latio learned the names of the Masked Children: Thog, Niwt, Dluom, Groyg and, of course, Majora. The third day after his recruitment, the Children had a meeting to discuss their "plans."
Majora started their discussion "The next ritual should actually INVOLVE the moon, instead of just worshiping it, what do you guys think?" Thog, Niwt, Dluom and Groyg all agreed "What do you think, Awlodo?" Latio took a while to realize that they were talking to him. "Oh, right, I’m Awlodo now... Sure, let’s involve the moon"
After a few of these meetings Latio got used to his name, and after a month of these weekly meetings, the Children started their ritual. They all chanted and danced around a strange design on the ground. "Hakachiki-soma-terra-luna-desol-KA!"
They danced and chanted for hours on end, until they started humming "We aren’t powerful enough to bring down the moon!" Dluom exclaimed. Latio then started glowing pale blue, and a ghastly voice came from the glow
"This being is not powerful enough in the arts of the moon to help you in your quest for obliteration"

Niwt and Dluom scuttled up to Majora and asked abruptedly “CANWETRAINHIMCANWETRAINHIMCANWETRAINHIMPLEAS EPLEA SEPRETTYPLEASE”

Majora answered with an appropriate “Huh? Slow down.”

Niwt and Dluom said it slowly again “We wanna train Awlodo!!”

“Fine, fine, train Awlodo.”

Three days later Niwt and Dluom took Latio out to train archery. “Awlodo, see that deer?”

“See? What is se- oh right, see...”

“We want to see it dead in less than ten seconds”

“But, how do I kill it in ten seconds?”

“With these.” Niwt pulled out a beautiful oak shortbow, and Dluom pulled three silver mythril arrows out of his cap. “Pull them straight back, aim, and fire”

Latio shot the first arrow, and it went straight as a bullet, but he fired the opposite direction.
“Are you blind?!” Niwt and Dluom shouted.

“N-no, I’m not blind, I was, um, testing the bow.”

“Ok, one more shot, then we gotta complete that ritual you held up.” Dluom noticed Niwt wasn’t echoing him. “Niwt, why aren’t you talking?” then he noticed the arrow that was implanted in Niwt’s skull.

“Told you I have perfect aim!” Latio mocked. Niwt collapsed, dead.
“LATIO! You swore allegiance to me and my followers!” The ghastly disembodied voice with the pale glow hissed. Latio then realized that this voice was the moon goddess herself!

“So what?” Latio said.

“So what? SO WHAT?! You were oath bound! Now suffer the ultimate consequence!”

“If your gonna kill me, do it quick!"

“No. Your fate will be worse. You will be sent to a plane of destruction and death. You'll die slowly and painfully there. There is no escape once you're there." A portal appeared before Latio and sucked him inside it's swirls and patterns. The inter-dimentional trip was very, very painful, and Latio screamed in pain as one by one his atoms were teleported through dimentions...
