I Give you... the NINTENDO REVOLUTION!!!

ok, so this isn't exactly about the N5, but i saw this and it seemed worthy of a topic.

this seems like the same kind of technology/ideas behind the N5. you move the glove(or remote) and something moves on the screen. So is nintendo REALLY revolutionizing the gaming industry if they've tried this before?
That and, if something like this has been made in the 90's, why, in 15 years, has it not been expanded on and made better?

Re: I Give you... the NINTENDO REVOLUTION!!!

Well, Nintendo has always tried to do thing that kept gamers "outside the box". I recall the NES had my favourite duck hunting utensil, the laser gun. As well as a Star Fox like joy stick for piloting an aircraft, as well as a boxing utility for Mike Tyson's Punchout. All of them expanded the experience tremendously, and that is why Nintendo dominated with NES. As I've said before, it all started with the NES and it will end with the NES.

I've been thinking about that. The Revolution basically has nothing revolutionary going for it. I guess it's the whole 3-D pointing sensor. Plus, it looks like the Revolution has more ways of using this utility.

Revolution will probably be more known to the gamers. I hadn't ever heard of the Power Glove but most gamers already know about the Revolution controller.

Re: I Give you... the NINTENDO REVOLUTION!!!

I have barely heard of the following concepts, but I hear VirtualBoy and IToy(sp?) screaming in my head every time I hear of the Revolution. The VB was a flop, but I guess it had its merits for innovation. I suppose they're just going down on that experimental path of new aesethics. This kind of seems recycled, but I guess since they're basing their flagship console on it, they must have something lese in mind.

Re: I Give you... the NINTENDO REVOLUTION!!!

Well for one thing the powerglove wasn't too much fun because your hand got warm after a while which wasn't that comfortable unless it was winter. Nintendo said they weren't using new technology, they said they were innovating the gaming world. It's like the DS, the touch screen has been around for who knows how long, but the touch screen isn't the Revolutionary part of the DS, it's how the touch screen is used that makes the DS special.
