DOOM

When I first read that a doom movie was coming out in my Xbox Magazine, I cringed. When I heard that the rock was going to be in it I laughed. When I saw the trailer, I cried. I don't know why you would spend so much money on a movie, and set it up to be a flop. What were the directors thinking? If anyone has seen the trailer: Is it just me or does it appear that part of the movie is in 1st person, very similar to the game? What does everyone else think? Flop or Not?

Many people will see the movie simply because of the fact that it's based on the popular game series. I recently saw a commercial for it. There were some pretty well done creatures, but they made the pinky demons too small. It looked like it was about the size of an oven on the commercial, while it is much larger in the games.

Other than that however, I can't find anything wrong with it. I might see it, but I probably won't.

Despite the fact that I know it will suck I'm still going to go watch it.

Not. I think the movie actually looks promising, and the first person i hear is for only like 20 minutes. the rock sorta resembles the main character in doom and i think its shaping up to be a good or at least decent film.

I couldn't care less is the movie sucks some serious monkey... hair... whether its about DOOM, GLOOM, a mysterious little hermit that lives on the moon. If the Rock's in it, I'm watching it. I don't see the guy in wrestling anymores, I need my Rock fix.

Actually, I'm more intrigued to see how the Rock goes as Johnny Bravo. I wonder what happened to that??

Uwe Boll is the bane of both the movie and video game industry. Give him the rights to a video game he'll slap together a z grade film that has only the title in common with the game. I saw his version of house of the dead, sega classic on rails zombie shooter. First he draws attention to its origin by actually having footage of the game during the opening credits. He then turns it into the standard bunch of drunken teens get killed off during their stay on mysterious Island. With the sole survivor becoming the villian in the orginal game due to his girlfriend dying but getting what ever mcguffin (plot device) created by the zombies. Thats his sins against gaming, against the movie industry they are, not being clear on who are actually characters and who are extras at the party on the island, using the video game footage every time the scene changed (its the bit were the girl in the game died), and a stupid spin around a character in a still but ready for action postion after they had died (is this supposed to be a game over screen? Well not even that is adapted correctly, I would know we have one at work and the company owns at least one more). It could have become a guilty pleasure if he let the charcter called libererty survive for a laugh, but alas she broke the rule that says in this kind of film don't flash any naughty bits if you want to survive. All his films are bad, but they don't get to qualify for the so bad its good section.

Back on Subject, Casting the Rock was a good call. But given Uwe Boll's track record I keep wonder how he keeps getting work.

I saw the trailer at the movies today, it kinda looks like Doom 3 but with better graphics and Im guessing that half the movie well be like 1st person shooter because....well thats what half of the trailer was like.
Anyway for me this movie doesn't look like it will suck a whole lot....I'm a sucker for mindless sci-fi voilence but then I feel sad because there was no plot.

The first person part is only 2 min and I CAN'T WAIT to see this movie. I have been following this movie for over 10 years and I have been waiting for this since it was being talked about after the release of Doom 2. It could be pooring down snow and I will still be at the movies to see this. I am a HUGE Doom fan and this movie looks very promising.

The Rock played the voice of Johnny Bravo on the last season of the show. A live action version was never offical, he just said he would like to do it.

Has anyone heard of the story line? Basicly, there is no door way to hell. The zombies are there due to a virus, and quite frankly, the whole Doom franchise revolves around hell. This is what I have heard, and if true, the movie will suck. Here's hoping I am wrong.

Its the same plot as Doom 3 which is just a retake on Doom 1. If Doom 2 becomes a movie (Hell invades Earth) that will be even sweeter then this.
