What Would Happen If...

Hello once again ZU people!

Y'no, I've always wondered what it would be like if Mario and Luigi switched words with Link. I always figured Ganon would slaughter the Mario Bros. and for Bowser to be way too easy for Link to defeat. But who knows! Maybe if they switched worlds, it wouldn't be so bad after all! I would love to hear your idea of what would happen to them if they switched worlds.

Despite the fact that Mario and Luigi have the ability to throw fireballs, Ganon would own them. I mean, if he can take a light arrow right to the head and NOT die... he can take a few fireballs. In fact, he might just have Plumber Bros. stew.

As for Link... hm...
He would likely beat the tar out of anything he came accross, but would wonder what in the world the little hovering blocks with the "?" on them do. He'd likely throw bombs at them. As for bowser... he'd stand NO chance against Link. A few arrows to the head... you get the picture.

You're all thinking too realistically. Link and Mario would get beaten. Mario doesn't ever use any of Link's items, if I remember correctly, so you can't be sure that it would work. There was a case where jumping on enemies worked in Zelda, though, so Mario might do better than you think . But then, those were Goombas in Link's Awakening.

haha, yes.. Though I think Mario could find a way to defeat Ganon, Mario his Yoshi and his Clan make a good team.

But if you think about switching the PRINCESSES, I think no one would notice

This happened with Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot didn't it... and the whole SSB Melee thing... this idea isn't impossible but I don't think it would work if it was to actually happen, it would have to be with more similar games.

You probably could have derived from the above that I don't really think about it. Mario integrated into a more realistic world would probably result into something of a fried plumber but that's just the silly(but still clever and wonderful) franchise.

okay, in my opinion I think that, Mario against ganon is a little silly, but it is good to explore your mind like that, I'm probably sure that Nintendo have thought of something of that sort. And link against Bowser... Let's just say Bowser doen't have a chance in hell.

Mario and Luigi would fair well enough, depending on who's weapons they get they'd do better or worse..

Though it would be nice to implement a heart system in both, then have Mario/Luigi using grappling hooks, swords, shields, etc.. And Link using fire-flowers, mecha-boots, frog suits, and things like that.. Or them using thier own signature weapons and just being in eachother's worlds. Considering both rely primarily on equipment they're pretty compataible..

I believe Links lack of superhuman abilities would make him the least successful.

So Mario is superhuman? Other from exceptional jumping(and other various athletic abilities) and some fireballs(from a technical standpoint, he dosen't always have the ability), I'm not sure I see it. I thought that was the quirk that made him different and loved at any rate.

Mario and Luigi would probably try jumping on Ganon's head. Then he'd get mad and throw them through a wall or give the original Phantom Ganon some friends . Link would have absolutely no clue what the coins or obviously drugged mushrooms would do. (if a mushroome gives a character extra lives or makes them really big, then it is most likely drugged) Bowser... Link would make him cry. That would be so funny. In fact, one look at Link's sword would probably make Bowser change his mind about trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. If not, then Bowser would definately have a splitting headache .

Excepional jumping is what makes him a much more fearsome opponent than Link who's really not much more than an average joe with a sword and shield.

More fearsome opponent? Who, Mario? I am sorry, but Link is much more fearsome. Sure, Mario can jump high. Big deal. So can Link with Roc's Feather. Link has a friggin' sword! All Mario can do is punch you and jump on your head. Link can completely remove your head! I don't see how jumping makes Mario more fearsome than Link!

Okay. As is a word with a completely different meaning, though. Why not use a synonym or foreign pronounciation such as butt or arse? Or, perhaps, just type out ass? o_O

I suppose I should enlighten you all by answering this question, no? Well, if that were to happen, a massive rift would form in the space-time continuum, giving birth to complete and utter chaos, Vin Diesel would hurl random children into the bottomless void, both series would cease to exist - triggering the simultaneous heart-attacks of 16 million obsessed fanboys, and God would slaughter a Yak in vehement protest of this unholy marriage.

It's a good thing this mingling of Zelda and Mario has not come to pass, for this is not a mere idea, it is the prophecy foretold by the Atlantis ancients, one doomed to occur when the two powers are combined. There is no escaping this fate, friends; never allow the aforementioned games to be altered as proposed by the hypothetical question posed at this thread's start, for it would usher forth the end of all mankind, pie and schnapps.

Jumping as high as Mario does requires strong legs. One of his kicks would probably be enough to blow your head off, and besides that he's alos superhumanly strong (without the help of any golden glove or such) just look at how he could lift King Bob Omb in Super Mario 64, and he seems to atleast have the weight of a car. Mario has also got a huge sledgehammer, just look at how he pulverised steel-drums into absolute nothingness in Donkey Kong.
I do not believe Links big pockets got much against all that.
