Lttp easter egg help

hi i want to know where i can find this room in Link to the past...

Apparently there's no 'proper' way to get that room during a normal game. You have to somehow make the game fail to access the next room properly, and therefore trigger the fail-safe routine. Whenever you enter a room that doesn't exist in the game, it falls back to room 0, which is the Chris Houlihan room.

I hear it's possible to do it by going from an indoor area to outside, then as fast as you can get into another indoor area. With luck the game won't have initialised all the variables yet, and the Chris Houlihan room will appear. I think there's a FAQ about it on GameFAQs.

Before the first dungeon, there was a fork. I took a left and it was there, but no text. That's what confuses me.

Yes, Tom41, I believe the outdoor-indoor theory is true.

If you start a game in the sanctuary and move as fast as you can to where the hole was where Link's uncle was injured it should be there. If you get hit it doesn't work though. I don't know if this works on the GBA version though as I have only done it on the SNES one.

I got to the Chris Houlihan room. It was a tough challenge to get into the room though. Since i got into the room, i have not managed to get into the room since then.

The only way i know is that you must have the boots. Then start at the chruch and run as fast as you can to the bush with the hole under it at the castle. The one where you go in the begining to get your sword from your uncle. You must rstart the game at the church. And you cant get hit by any enimies. It has to be almost perfect. It took me like 15 tries to get it. If your screw up just restart the game at the church and try again.

So far nobody's been able to get it on the GBA, unless you use a Gameshark code. The room is still there, and the text has been changed - but the indoor-outdoor glitch has been fixed.

I got in on the GBA version without a Gameshark.

Hey, whoa. You actually found a part of that game that I was clueless about... I never had glitch problems with it, that rather interested me! Wow... I may try to get into that room, somehow, despite its apparent imposibility.

Weird fact.

I have gotten into the Chris Houlihan room, but I didn't use the hole near Hyrule Castle. There's a hole one screen to the right of the cemetery near the Sanctuary. It should be right next to the river bend. I think it's one screen up from the wooden bridge, if I remember correctly. Normally, the hole leads to a fairy fountain.

I don't know how I did it, but I ended up in the Chris Houlihan room and then exited in Link's house. I tried a lot of stuff to get it to happen again, but I've yet to try some speed runs... Maybe I should try running from the Sanctuary?

The easiest way to do it is to start from the sactuary or from link's house and use the pegesus boots to run to the hole where you first enter hyrule castle (where you find your uncle) If you take the shortest path it should be easy, I did it on my first try.

there was a general thread about favorite easter eggs... if you look back on the history of that thread, someone mentioned this room, and im nopt sure, but i think they gave a distinct way of getting in... hope it helps :/

That's.... The other Chris Houlihan Room?!? The normal one looks like a cave, but this one looks like a dungeon or something! Hmmm.... For all of you who found the Chris Houlihan Room, what did it look like? By the way, it does not work at all on the GBA version, unless you have the GameShark code.

Possibly not. The processing power of the GBA is so much more powerful than the SNES that it will have accessed and set up all the variables before you're even done exiting a building.

The way I heard it, you had to cut down every blade of grass and kill every enemy around Hyrule castle, then dash into the hole. So far it hasn't worked.

What are the silver rupees worth? 50?

This is a very interesting topic. I encountered stuff about the Houlihan room about 3 years ago, but as of yet, it's the only thing that I have NEVER been able to do in ALttP. Anything else, you name it, I've done.
