Some things are different, like the intro legend. But Agahnim is still a wizard. Makes me want to do something bad with some people at NoA.

There are no significant differences (mainly sounds and character sprite changes).

If you haven't collected the three pendants yet then the information below will be useless to you;

The swamp level (level 2) is in the swamp... duh (south from your house)
Level 3 is in the lost woods
(the levels will show up on your map when you need to go to them.)

All the text changes are listed here: http://www.zeldalegends.net/files/te...omparison.html

Everything else has remained pretty much the same, with the exception of a new dungeon, Palace of the Four Swords, which you unlock by completing FS.

But there are a couple changes in the overworld, I'll have to find the text I was reading on it before.

Re: alttp versions (snes and gba) - are they different?

Link has a "voice" in the GBA version. It was like the yelling from the N64 versoins and when you dug up the flute(in the GBA),you could still keep the shovel. What was the other item they took out of the GBA version?I know they did,but I forgot which one it was to make room for the shovel AND the flute.

Linkfan101

btw.......Mario also had a "voice" in the re-realese of Super Mario World on the GBA.

They moved the item icon, the took out the text "Life" that was above your hearts, Link's hands no longer turn green after he gets the final pair of gloves, text has change (check out Ichabod_L's post. He gives a link to all text changes), they added the annoying "Yaahhh hyaaaa raaaa" voice to Link, and the feel of the game is different since it is portable.

I was about to say that the only real differences that I can think of is that it no longer leaves Zelda as your... and that I've been unable to find Chris's room.

No other items were removed. In the SNES version they had only one bottle display and when you went on it it brought up all your bottles. On the GBA version they had the bottles in a row on the right hand side.

Anyway, the most notable difference to me was the Ice Palace. On the GBA version it was a lot easier for me. I think Turtle Rock was changed a little also, but I may be wrong, I haven't played the SNES version for a very long time.

Apparently a really hard puzzle in the Ice Palace was removed in the GBA version. I'm not sure what it was, since I hardly played the SNES version.

Re: alttp versions (snes and gba) - are they different?

yeah they butchered A Link to the Past in order to make a GBA version. they altered the controls, removed an item (not sure which), altered a hell of alot of the text, switched around a few puzzles..

i also heard that there was a really hard trick to fire arrows with bombs on them like in Link's Awakening... but it's not apparent in the GBA version.

They didnt take anything out. They took out the bottle thing that held all 4 bottles, then made an extra column for the individual bottles.

No, not in the slightest. Subtracted from the sounds Link makes when he swings his sword.

Re: alttp versions (snes and gba) - are they different?

Okay, there is no Chris Houlihan room, the Ice Palace has been "dumbed down" for us, there is a new Palace of the Four Sword, there are differences in the text, there is a slightly messed up tree near the furtune teller's house north of Kakariko Village, Link yells when he jumps/falls/swings his sword, there is a new shield shop with like-likes in the Dark World, there are slightly different sounds, and the graphics are polished off a little better.

There are many differences but it is best to result into a gamefaqs.com guide.... the differences are listed in a special FAQ there..

There is the Palace of the Four sword, I know, but how do you get the hurricane blade on SNES version? Once you beat Ganon? In the GBA version, you have to have 10 medals of courage in Four Swords to do the riddle quest. Can you even get the hurricane blade in the SNES?

Re: alttp versions (snes and gba) - are they different?

There is no Hurricane Spin in the SNES version. The Hurricane Spin wasn't even created until Wind Waker. Which came first, ALttP/FS on GBA or Wind Waker?

Re: alttp versions (snes and gba) - are they different?

Wind Waker, by about a year (I think). I remember seeing pictures of Links and reading replies that said they looked a lot like Wind Waker.

So is there that riddle guy inside the lumberjacks house in the SNES version if there is no hurricane blade?

Even though this is off topic (sorry) I just wanted to say that I hate the fact they gave Mario a voice in the rerelease of SMW on GBA.

On topic: not much is dif
