They were just incredibly minor characters that only served small roles, and weren't that entertaining.

Perhaps they needed to get rid of a few characters to up the ante on the amount of space they needed compared to child Link Hyrule... but in the long run a few characters wouldn't help that much graphics wise, and...

So, in the end, it really doesn't matter as much as that stupid/cheating running Man.
