Snake Pliskin

in metal gear solid 2: sons of liberty when u r raiden in the plant level u meet a navy seal named iraquois pliskin who later turns out 2 be solid snake. so the name is snake pliskin. for those of u who didnt know thats the name of the main chararacter in the movies "escape from new york" and "escape from los angeles." i was wonderin did they do that on purpose or is it just coinsidence.

I think so. I remember reading a Denis Dyack interview, and he was talking about when he had a talk with Hideo Kojima. that they're tastes in movies and such were close, and about the influence from other things. It certaintly rings a bell.

EDIT: Denis Dyack is the head of Silicon Knights, the Canadian based publisher owned by Nintendo, which is currently working on the Metal Gear Solid remake. They have the games Eternal Darkness and Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen among others on their resume.

Considering I tried to tell everyone this a while ago, good job finding it.

Yah me and Alec (Machief) has known that for awhile. I forget which issue but in OPM it states that it was put into the game as a joke, or sorta like a little tribute/gag, but yes, it was done intentionally........and NO Snake is not modeled after him.

Snake existed WAY before that movie came out, but yea I think the "Pliskin part is some kinda gag or tribute". Similar to Duke Nukem and the Evil Dead movies.

Um, either youd made a mistake or you must be really damn stupid.......the "Escape" movies came out before Metal Gear.
