I felt the same way about custom cars for awhile. The handling is VERY touchy on most of them. They slide too much. I had to make most of my cars having C or D Grip parts, to make them a little less touchy. My current favorite (the Fantasista) is a bit on the "sliding" side, but it can really zoom in-and-out around tight corners. That's why I love that Aeropolis level so much.

However, after a lot of tinkering, I found that you can really get a lot more speed than with the originals if you build it right. That's probably the best reason to go custom.
