Re: Character List
Name: Aidan
Age: 23
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Hair: White. It is usually pulled back into a ponytail.
Eyes: A piercing gray.
Weight: 175
Height: 6'1"
Weapon: A very large long-sword. Even with Aidan's strength, it must be wielded with two hands. He also has a shorter sword that he received as a truce between himself and the immortal Arlaus.
Armor: Aidan has iron armor that any knight would wear. It is silver in color, but very heavily scarred from battle.
Strengths: Aidan possesses great physical strength and skill with such a large sword. Through numerous battles, Aidan has attained great speed despite his heavy armor. When his armor is removed, the former knight has dramatically increased quickness and agility.
Weaknesses: Aidan is almost defenseless against any magic. His large sword also slows him down so he's more susceptible to attack from a faster opponent.
Skills/Magic: No magical abilities
Personality: Aidan has a very secretive personality. He is rather cold and never attempts to befriend anyone. He owes no one anything and only looks out for himself. He tends to rush into things. He is arrogant and brash. His thoughts only dwell on his dear Alexia.
Appearance: Aidan is tall and would be considered a handsome man. When his long, thick, white hair is not pulled back, it is flowing down his back. Beneath Aidan's armor is a thick, muscular body that is pocked with arrow entry wounds and a gaping scar extending from his left shoulder down to his right hip. He carries his mighty sword in a sheath on his back.
Aidan's face is hard and cold. He never shows any emotion. He has a square jaw and a narrow nose. Although his body and armor is marked with scars, his face is completely unscathed. However, in his piercing gray eyes, there is a great pain that overwhelms him.
History: Aidan was once a great knight of the kingdom of Aeros. After returning from a military campaign after many weeks, the knights of Aeros found their kingdom under the attack of the Great Dragon of Mount Aeros. The knights charged into battle to try and save what was left of the smoldering ashes that they once called home. However, the violence and the chaos of the situation would provide Aidan with something that he desperately sought.
Aidan had been in love with the young Princess Alexia of Aeros. Her father had arranged for her to court a prince from a neighboring kingdom, but her heart was with Aidan. The two had been having a passionate love affair for over a year. Sadly, the king had forbid Alexia of ever courting a knight. Alexia was to keep the blood noble and marry a prince. The nobility was never to be tainted by the likes of a common knight. Alexia had sobbingly told Aidan this weeks before he left on the military campaign. Alexia would soon be married to the prince. "The kingdom is burning, and all is about to end," said Aidan aloud, "I must go take Alexia now, or I may never have the chance."
Aidan broke away from the rest of his fellow knights while they tried to keep the dragon at bay. The dragon was perched on the kingdom walls and was striking at anything that moved with its mighty claws. It billowed fire down onto the kingdom. Fighting the dragon was useless, but the valiant knights stood beside one another just to be struck down. It was their duty.
Aidan made his way into the unguarded castle during the uproar and headed toward the princess's quarters. He burst into the room and Alexia was looking out of the window in terror. "Alexia, my darling! We must flee this place!" Aidan shouted to the princess. The princess ran up to Aidan and threw her arms around him. "Oh, Aidan! I thought surely you were dead! Why are you not with the others?" Aidan shook her and said, "Alexia, there's no time. We have to get out of here. We can leave together now. Aeros will not survive this onslaught." Alexia seemed to understand and she nodded. Aidan grabbed her hand and as he started for the door the king entered the room.
"What the hell is this?" he growled. Aidan stood strong and Alexia huddled behind him. "I see what is going on here. You're not fighting for this kingdom. Furthermore, you're attempting to kidnap my daughter! This is treason!" shouted the king. He pulled his sword from its sheath. It came so easily. "Your majesty, I'd never draw against you. You must understand that I love your daughter with all of my heart. Aeros will not survive, sire. We must flee," Aidan said dropping to one knee. Alexia put her hands on Aidan's shoulders and closed her eyes. Aidan was in the deepest love he had ever been in, but even then he would not betray his king. The king's face grew red with fury. "Do not draw against me if you wish. No matter who you love, the punishment for treason is still death!" The king lunged toward Aidan with his sword ready to strike true. Aidan fell from his knee onto his back and the king's sword narrowly missed him. Aidan's head struck the stone flooring. Everything was in a daze. He could hear muffled sounds and then howls of terror. He sat up to see the king on his knees with his face buried in his hands. His bloody sword lay beside him. Aidan looked over and there lye Alexia clutching at her chest. The king's sword had missed its intended mark, but it had struck through Alexia's breast. Aidan scrambled on his knees to Alexia. "Alexia! No! Don't worry, you're going to be alright! You're going to be okay!" Aidan said hysterically. He was applying pressure to Alexia's chest but she was writhing and screaming in pain. "Aidan," she gasped, "Aidan, let me go. You have to get away. It's too late for me. I've always loved you. Continue to love me always." Her voice started to drift away and she took another large gurgling gasp. "We'll meet again in another land," Alexia said as her eyes closed. Aidan screamed over her lifeless body as the king continued to sob uncontrollably. Aidan stood to his feet with his now bloody armor and drew his sword. The king raised his tear soaked face from his hands to look at Aidan. "You die for what you have done. King or no king." With that said, Aidan decapitated him.
Aidan escaped from the castle through a hidden exit with Alexia's body. He managed to flee from the kingdom almost unnoticed because of all the chaos. Later, he buried Alexia's body in a beautiful grove where they used to meet secretly.
Now Aidan travels without a cause. The dragon destroyed Aeros and Aidan's sin of killing the king was covered up hence. He lives a painful existence everyday and each breath he takes prolongs the misery that he must endure. Aidan has to atone for his terrible sin so he can be rejoined with his true love in the afterlife. He lives by his sword and is always searching for a way that he can be reunited with Alexia whether it is natural or not..
