Re: What's your Zodiac sign?

I'm going to ask that people put more into their posts in this topic if it's going to stay open.

I have much more to say than most about astrology, but I'm sure everyone can manage at least a few lines.

Go here, here and here For lots of good information and also access to your own charts. The last of the three is probably the best for a simple chart, while the first is great for variations and comparing couples and other things.

Forgive me for missing details -- I'm going through my chart entirely by memory.

Now, then. I am a Leo, however the sun is my only planet in Leo. On my chart the sun is at the beginning of the seventh house, so it's directly opposite my ascendant. I think this explains what I consider to be one of my strongest character traits: I am extremely empathetic; I constantly think of myself in the place of others when dealing with them.

I have Mars in Aries, in the first house -- this is a placement for a rather strong ego (though in my case it is tempered by a few other things, I think). The first house is the house of self, and Mars is an aggressive planet which thrives in Aries, a fire sign.

I have an empty second house of money and possessions -- that doesn't mean I'll neccessarily be terribly poor in life, however it's not one of my first priorities.

My third house is also empty -- it deals with social aspects and communication. This might explain to a degree my awkwardness in many social situations.

In the fourth house I have Jupiter, in Gemini. Jupiter is seen as a planet of good fortune -- the largest; the king of the planets. Gemini deals with thought and verbal and written communication. I like to think that this planetary placement allows for my love of language and of the written word.

I have venus in cancer in either the fifth or the sixth house -- I cannot remember which. Ignoring house placement, Venus is associated with love, and cancer is emotional and sensitive in a lot of ways -- cancers are characteristically afraid of being hurt (or of hurting others). I am most definitely sensitive about my love interests and also I am quick to pull back into my metaphorical shell.

I am not the most characteristic Leo, due largely to some of my other planetary placements -- the Fire in my burns strong however. Leo, along with Aries and Saggitarius, is a fire sign. It indicates passion and intensity. I become extremely passionate in almost any interest I have and though I'm not as extroverted as most Leos might be, I have my moments. With the sun in the seventh house, It indicates a strong emphasis on relationships and long term commitments -- perhaps marriage.

Mercury is in Virgo, also in the seventh house. Mercury is all about verbal communication, and Virgo is self-controlled, well-mannered, articulate, and perhaps obsessive. This all adds up to quick thinking, and certainly fast-paced thoughts and speech. I know only to well how others insist that I slow down when I get excited about an idea and start talking.

Pluto moves very slowly and affects entire generations. I daresay most of us at ZU have Pluto in scorpio -- though not the much younger and much older. Scorpio is the most blatantly sexual of the zodiac signs, and Pluto represents more than anything else transformation. Our generation seems well on the way, I think, to altering attitudes towards sexuality perhaps even more than the feminists of the 60s and 70s. The increased acceptence of sexual "deviations" is key. It also welcomes increased interest in all things spiritual, including the occult.

My tenth house -- of career and ambition -- is quite full, with three planets all in Saggitarius. It is here that the Moon, Saturn, and Uranus (my personal ruling planet) are found. Saggitarius implies imagination, creativity, exploration, and travel -- my ideal career, then, almost definitely will involve travelling the world. The presence of the moon here is also key -- the moon represents the inner, emotional self, arguably of equal importance to the sun's outer self. It can be said, then, that my emotional fulfillment is largely based upon career aspirations.

Moving on to my eleventh house, we find the last planet I'll mention -- neptune. Another outer planet, it moves somewhat faster than Pluto, but still affects generations. Neptune was in Capricorn at the time of my birth, and I don't know much what to say about it, but here is a long explanation by someone else.

Elemental trends are in most cases not too important, but I happen to have a certain abundance of planets in fire Signs (5!), and just 2 in earth signs, 1 in air, and 2 in water. This means that I certainly have the passion and the energy to start things, and I want to do them, but without much in the other elements, it doesn't always happen. It's more significant, however, when you're missing an element completely, so I don't need to worry too much.

I'm a Leo, and my ruling planet is the Sun.
Keep in mind that your ruling planet is the planet that rules the sign of your ascenant. So if you have a leo ascendant as well as a leo Sun, then that's perfectly accurate, but I suspect you were mistaken.
