The Better Ocarina of Time Sequel.
As you may have noticed, both The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker are direct sequels (or continuations) of the Hero of Time story told in Ocarina of Time. My question is: Which made a better continuation/sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I am NOT asking which game do you like more, I am asking which was a better continuation of the Hero of Time's legend. Give reasons for your opinion.
I personally believe that Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker were two of the best games in the Legend of Zelda series. I enjoyed both of them, but which made a better sequel/gaiden to Ocarina of Time? After thinking about it for a while, I decided that I thought Majora's Mask made a better sequel/gaiden to Ocarina of Time for a few reasons. After beating Ocarina of Time I wanted to see more of the Hero of Time. I wanted to see what he did after saving Hyrule from Ganon. I really didn't want to see some random boy become a hero and save the world from Ganon again like in The Wind Waker. The Link in the Wind Waker (Hero of Winds) wasn't nearly as interesing as the Hero of Time. All throughout The Wind Waker, you hear about the Hero of Time and the old Hyrule from Ocarina of Time. All the game is about is becoming what the Hero of Time did 100 years ago. When playing the Wind Waker, it feels like the game is telling you "Go play Ocarina of Time and see the Hero of Time save the world. Who really cares about the Hero of Winds?" That's the message I got from playing The Wind Waker. The Wind Waker just retold the Ocarina of Time story, it didn't really continue off it.
In Majora's Mask, we got to see the true hero of Hyrule once again. It takes place right after Ocarina of Time. In Ocarina of Time, the game started off childish in a way, but it matured till the end. Since Majora's Mask continues right after, the game starts of as mature as Ocarina of Time ended and matrues even more till the end. In the Wind Waker, you had to start all over again. It started off kiddy and took till the end to mature. Like I said earlier, The Wind Waker just retold the Ocarina of Time story, it didn't really continue off it.
Anyways, in Majora's Mask...The Hero of Time leaves Hyrule to find a friend, something he was looking for in Ocarina of Time. But unlike Ocarina of Time or the Wind Waker, Link is not saving Hyrule from Ganon. Ganon is sealed away in the secret realm, and you are not in Hyrule. It's a brand new story, but still stays true to the spirit of being a sequel to Ocarina of Time.
Wow! That was a long post, but you might want to read it all. I think I brought up some good points. Oh, and by the way, I really didn't mean to make The Wind Waker look bad because I like that game a lot. So sorry if it sound like that.
