Re: where do you get your music?

Downloading. Eh, most of it's game music that I get from OCremix or some other sites. The other music is from LimeWire.

Yah for piracy!

I either download or buy. But if i really like the album that i downloaded, I'll go out and buy it in a store or order it.

File sharing, which goes onto ITUNES. Then I transfer it in turn onto my IPOD. New music every day, life is good

Re: where do you get your music?

I'm stupid and use iTunes, I've spent about 500 dollars on music. But yeah, I only buy CDs of bands/albums I really respect or like. So yeah.

www.allofmp3.com

You can get an entire album for about $1 thanks to crazy Russian media laws. iTunes costs $1 a song, this costs ~$1 an album. I probably downloaded around 100 albums from them so far. Even though you need to pay for it, it has a good selection compared to P2P where you can't get much.

Then your not doing something right. I have always found what I'm looking for. You just have to know where to look.

P2P- Bad. There are hardly any songs by artists I like and they all have different bitrates and I never trust other users.

Torrents- Depends. If there's a lot of people downloading, it's good but thats usually not the case.

IRC- Good for some stuff, not too much of a selection and too many queue lines.

AllofMP3- Great selection, fast downloads. The only con is that you need to pay but $1 an album is nothing.

Torrents would probably be the best if you listen to popular music, since it is common. However, I listen to Classic Rock which is hard to find on torrent sites.

Re: where do you get your music?

Depends on what it is.

I have about 700 remixes, which I downloaded. All legal stuff, mind you.

If the music can be purchased right here in America, without the use of the internet, I'll buy it. Mainstream stuff should be bought, or so I think.

If the band is foreign and thier stuff can only be purhcased via the internet, I'll just download it. That is, unless the band is awesome, like F.I.R., and it's worth the money, then I'll buy it. I'll probably never buy mainstream Japanese music since it costs so damn much. China and Korea are more reasonable - thier prices are the same as ours, if not less.

Anime/game soundtracks. Eheh, I used to buy those. If I got everything I liked, though, there would be too much to buy, so I just use FTP's to get all of mine. =P

On IRC search engines (I found a bunch), most of the albums I'm looking for are either: A) Unavailable, or B) I have to wait in an long queue before the download starts. In torrents, I'd have to wait like 10 hours for it to download. Besides, Aerosmith and KISS are fairly popular.

Re: where do you get your music?

A mix really, CDs first and then I download music I can't possible buy down the shops (e.g. video game music). Although at the moment I'm kind of just listening to what ever is on the radio or the jukebox at work. (Unfourtunately all except two CDs in the machine are out of date at the moment which is bad for the customers and us.)

Re: where do you get your music?

Uh... I use Bittorrent and DC++. They both do the job for me. Sometimes I use Ares Lite if I only want a single song or so. But anything that is an album or discography I use Bittorrent and DC++.

Re: where do you get your music?

I buy the album like you should. Spent well over a hundred bucks but yeah I think you need to pay for the stuff. I think the artists have a right to controll their music even though most record companies make that hard
