I'm proud of her!
I rarely start a topic. But I think this time it's worth it. I know very few of you actually care, if not anybody, but Ana Guevara, Mexico's fastest runner, is now the Earth's fastest runner. She won the 400 mts championship in France, and I, as well as my country, are very proud of her.
First Soraya Jiménez (Olimpic gold-weightlifting), now Anita Guevara. I just wanted to express my joy and proud. Thank you. ¡Viva México! |

Re: I'm proud of her!
congratulations mexico.
I would like to emphasis on the point about men being stronger and that is proven in the record breaking times. The male records are always a second or part of a second better than the womens record. I think that does show that men are physically stronger then women but it is proven that women are mentally stronger ![]() |

Re: I'm proud of her!
I dont know about the mentally stronger bit, but I do know they can drive men insane very quickly.

Re: I'm proud of her!
Women are stronger then men on a pound for pound basis (since most men that powerlift are well over 245 lbs, most females that powerlift are like 150 lbs at most).
I've seen females clean press 315+ lbs... which is more then double their bodyweight... In order for a male to beat that on a pound per pound basis they would have to clean press 490+ lbs... A good example to make you see what a difference the body weight makes... I know this guy that's my age, and he's about 120 lbs, and I'm 190 lbs. He can bench 165 lbs x 1, which is 45 pounds over his body weight, and I can bench 185 lbs x 1 which is 5 pounds UNDER my bodyweight, thus making him stronger on a pound for pound basis. If I wanted to break 45 lbs over my bodyweight I'd have to bench 235 x 1. By the way, I don't think she's EARTHS FASTEST runner... I'm pretty damn sure there was a male or 2...or 3... or 4 that's faster then her o_O; I think she's only the fastest for the certain RUN she did, not EVERY run in the world lol...

Re: I'm proud of her!
The bigger you are the harder it is to support weights bigger than your own. Look at ants: they carry food on their back many many times heavier than their body weight.
EDIT: Yeah, i was just giving another example.

Re: I'm proud of her!
hehe...very true.
But think of it, the fastest person (m or f) in the world is the one who breaks the record for the 100m sprint. But if you think about it, how long can he/she keep up that speed? 9 secs? 10 secs? 15 secs? If I was to judge the fastest person on the world, i would base my choice on who can keep thier pace for the longest, even if that means extending the race distance |

Re: I'm proud of her!
xLinlx, she´s not black, in fact she's white. Well, perhaps not as white as many of you, but a lot lighter than the average mexican. Besides, it's not the first time that a black woman/man beats everybody, if you're saying that people should be shut up from saying black people can't do things well, then your forgetting Tiger Woods, Cathy Freeman, Michael Jordan, Nelson Mandela, and a whole bunch of black people that do things better than some white people.
This is not a racist statement, I'm not even black, I'm not defending anything, and I'm not wanting to argue with you, xLinkx, I don't think you think black people do things bad in the first place. I was just saying that I don't think people should be showed what you say because there are so many black people who have already done it a long time ago. And yes, women are stronger in mind. I'd like to see one of us so called men, in one piece after bringing a child to the world. And finally, I was very emotive and excited, what I meant is that she was the fastest in her discipline, of course. She's not the fastest in the world, as there are better records, but right noe, she's the queen. Last edited by The Link; 08-28-2003 at 03:01 PM.. |

Re: I'm proud of her!
That's good for Mexico, I guess. But as for any racial issue, I don't see why that matters. Good job to Mexico.
