Anyone familiar with Dreamweaver?

Is anyone familiar with Dreamweaver? If so, then could you please tell me what this means:

Quote:
main points in defining a site:

when done, in the F8 Site manager window, the "homepage" index file should
be at the top level of both the Local Site folder and the Remote site. the
local and remote site should be mirror images of each other. and ALL site
files must be within this Local Site Folder.

adjust the local site folder level using the "Local Site Folder" box in the
site definition, Local Info pane.

adjust the remote folder level using the "Host Directory" box in the site
definition, remote info pane.
This quote was originally given to me by a Dreamweaver employee that didn't have patientance for me nor want to answer my question. As I am new to the whole "web designing" scene, could someone explain?

Re: Anyone familiar with Dreamweaver?

To me, it sounds like a feature I havn't used in over a year, where you can have Dreamweaver connect to your web host and actually live-update the site files. It works in conjunction with Dreamweaver templates, where you just create a single template, and make files based off that template. When you change the template around, Dreamweaver will update all the files based off that template. It's quite convenient when you have dozens of pages that you want to update at once. Instead of updating each individual file and then uploading them to your server, you can just update the template file, save, and Dreamweaver will update all the files based off that template, then connect to the server and upload all the new files, if that made any sense.

Re: Anyone familiar with Dreamweaver?

I've been using Dreamweaver for a good 4 years now and throughout this period, I've never gone near the "Define a site" feature. I gave it a try a couple of times but it just made me hate it even more. But like Captain Cornflake mentioned, it's a method that will allow you to dynamically edit your website quickly as well as enabling you to connect to your host and upload your files directly through the software.

I just use WS FTP LE
