I think that designers can always easily fall into the mistake of looking past the image straight on to analysis of how it may have been accomplished.
True, simplicity IS beautiful but if everyone worked that way, we won't have the range of styles and *personalities* of work to look at .

Each person should find their own style. And if it happens to not be *simple* then fair enough. So long as the image is well balanced, pleasing to the eye and communicates it's purpose =)
