Maybe there is no certain timeline
Usually when someone talks about a "legend", it is a story told that has been passed down from generation to generation. It tends to happen that legends change in some ways over time, some information is added or changed and some may be removed. But in legends the basic story always stays the same.
My point of all that is, the "legend" of Zelda may not follow a specific orderly timeline. Games like Majora's Mask would just be added stories to the original legend, but it makes since that there may be no timeline. For example, in The Legend of Zelda, Link must get the Triforce and save Zelda from Ganon. This basic story is the same for A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time. Games like Adventure of Link and Majora's Mask are those that happen right from other games. But the Legend of Zelda may just be a legend, told different ways with the same point. |

Re: Maybe there is no certain timeline
I second that opinion. I've never believed there was one definite timeline that all games fit into. here arte obvious connections (MM after OoT, WW after MM and OOT, TMC before FS and FSA), but I don't think anyone can really give an exact sequence that all Zelda games fit into without question. Except the guys who made the actual games, but you know what I mean.

Re: Maybe there is no certain timeline
I like how you think outside of the box Link01. Unfortunately, I don't believe that they are all the same stories. Too many differences, such as why is the wizard mentioned in ALTTP and not in OOT. Also, at the end of ALTTP, Link gets the Triforce, but in OOT they only seal Ganon in the Sacred Realm. In the end though, we both are entitled to our own opinions, since niether of us know for sure.

Re: Maybe there is no certain timeline
Yes, I really have thought about this actually. It just confuses me even more to try and understand all of these different timelines. I dont reallly think they intended it to be one HUGE timeline. Unless things like sequals such as OoT and MM.
But I do agree about the legend thing. Legends become different over time, although i dont think they would be as different as Link in WW and Link in MM, which are two TOTALLY different plots. But good thinking.

Re: Maybe there is no certain timeline
We know that there is no definite timeline. The creators obviously don't care about a timeline, and if they say it doesn't exist, it doesn't. But there are obvious connections between games (and not just direct sequels), so we know the creators are at least sort of trying to make a timeline.

Re: Maybe there is no certain timeline
At the end all the games are written in legends. We try to piece them together which is completely futile because of the many inconsistances between them.If someone just said that all the games were different legends they'd get a working timeline by just saying that.At the end I perfer making a timeline but this thought works too.
