Snake could snap Link's neck or cut his throat, or shoot him with a niper rifle. And he would never even see it coming.

Also, Apparently, based on HH, Link became a ghost for not being recognized as a hero, while Snake doesn't want to be recognized as a hero. Cool, huh?
