Art and writing?

Coem on, you call that a fan section? Sorry, I shouldn't be that critical, but it could have been done alot better. I've seen Interactive Sections that were divided so that it was really easy to find what you were looking for, not just all jumbled together. Ithink you should have a section for art and writing, and then further branch into more specific catergories, like for art, sketches, map colors, water colors, paintings. Adn for teh writing you could classify short stories to novels or genres. The whoel section just seems disorganized to me. I hope I make sense and that appropiate measures are taking. Thanks for hearing me out, ZU is definitely the best Zelda site I've ever been to, or will be for that matter.

Re: Art and writing?

Are you referring to the 'Art and Writing' forum or the Fan Fiction/Fan Art thingie that is accessed from the main page?

If you're referring to the 'Art and Writing' forum: Classifying different works into different sections could ultimately prove a disadvantage. By putting everything in the one section, more people might stumble on your work and give it a squiz. If you divide things into sections, someone might only be looking for a short story so they go into that section and only that section. A lot of the brilliant stuff I've read and seen in the art and writing forum I've come across when looking for something else. 'Poems by Southern Belle' being one of the gems I've come across, had it not been in the same section as everything else, I probably would've never seen it. Thankfully, I did see it and enjoy every new poem that is posted.

Another problem is that sometimes people's creative work doesn't fit easily into a category.

Re: Art and writing?

I agree with Mr. Spork. You can find a lot of cool things you weren't really expecting to find with the forum like this. Plus, the art and writing forum is just one little sub-forum for creative people out there. What you're suggesting might be good for a forum totally devoted to the arts, but I think it's a little much since it's just a little thing in the community section and has nothing to do with the main purpose of these forums. I'm not putting down the art and writing forums by saying that by the way. Heck, most of my posts are in the art and writing forums. I just think it would be too much to have the art and writing forum, a sidenote in these forums, divided up just as much as the Zelda forum sections.

P.S. Thanks for the compliments Sporky!!! Have a brownie! *tosses Sporky brownie*

Re: Art and writing?

I agree with Layke. I think it should be divided into Art and Writing; when I'm in there looking for a sketch, I'm not going to start reading a story.

Re: Art and writing?

Thank you Sporks. Look, I know its nice that you accidentally stumbled upon these great writings or what not, but the point is, I don't want to stumble. If I'm looking for a short story, novel, or artwork, I don't want to have to shift through three or four pages of threads ending up with only a headache. Thsi may be a little off topic, but I want to say the same thing about the sites fanfiction section. Yes they have poetry and narrative sections, but all the uncompleted stories mixed with the completed ones makes finding a story that is completely done frustrating. Also, I think they should implement a search feature iof further classification is out of the question, liek key words or ratings. Adn last but not least, how often do you stumble upon a good piece of work versus a bad one? Please don't make me laugh with the wrong answer. Thanks for reading.

Re: Art and writing?

Nothing is wrong with Zelda Universe, and any Art/Fic related things. We've got what's called a Search system to help. And that's opinions - not facts. I say ot's brilliant and easy, which is my opinion, what you say is not fact, it's fiction. Again, use the Search tool, or any other things to help you. It's perfectly fine the way it is, Layke. Why not have more sections? Because you're wasting bandwith. Why not if it wont waste bandwith? Because you wont need a Poem Section, etc.

Um, Layke: http://www.zeldauniverse.net/compone...ng/Itemid,325/

Taking a look in there would probably help you out.

Re: Art and writing?

Actually, the interactive section could use some updating. If anyone remembers the fanfic section before the update, I really prefered that method of writing to loading .txt files. Also, I wish there was a way for a user to change anything he has written or delete it altogether. That would definitely help. I'm not saying its horrible as it is now, but it could be better
