When someone talks about usergroups, they're referring to the vBulletin feature of being able to group users together for various reasons rather than needing to manually edit each individual member for something.

For example, all members are part of the primary usergroup entitled "members," which gives you viewing and posting access to the various boards. When you're put into a clan, you're placed into a secondary group (and if ZU does it the way I think they do) then there is a list of usergroups and then a checkbox is clicked to put you into an additional group. In your case, you'd have access to Farore and have a special banner because you're a member of the "Farore" group.
