Metal is dominated by whites largely due to its American and European roots. There are a number of notable black musicians in metal, including several members of Suffocation, and the vocalist of thrash band Hirax, but it's not a very common thing, I imagine simply due to the way that blacks in North America tend to be socialised into other forms of music and subcultures.
