NES - Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt. This is what got me into gaming in the first place all those years ago. Sure Super Mario Bros. 3 had more stuff and whatnot, but it didn't compare with the classic goodness of the very first installment. And Duck Hunt was also the bees knees. Oh, the fun I used to have with these games. I didn't have many friends when I was a kid, so this was my constant companion.
Other special mentions are: Ice Climbers, Kirby's Adventure and...what the hell...just about EVERYTHING by Nintendo. Retro gaming is where it's at!
SNES - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Let's face it, the SNES was the perfect gaming system and I could subjectively put a hundred other games as the best for this console. Yoshi's Island sticks out like a sore thumb though because of its unique art style, music, and fun factor. The SNES didn't play much of a role in my childhood since I never had one and only got to play it at friends' houses. It's only been in later years that I've truly been able to appreciate it. Among other honorable mentions (which are many) include Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars,
Primal Rage, Star Fox and Final Fantasy VI.
Nintendo 64 - Super Mario 64. I hold this as the best video game of all time. There's not a single Zelda game that even comes close to it. Sorry
OoT fanboys. Oh wait, no I'm not. Anyways, this game had it all and every day was an adventure! Back when kids were fad whores (oh wait, they still are) and going after the Playstation, I was still enjoying this game and it never got old for me. Other games, like Mario Party and Mario Kart 64 were also excellent and also served as "flavor enhancers" for Super Mario 64, expanding its universe and making it all the more awesome.
Other honorable mentions include Super Smash Bros, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Star Was: Episode 1 Racer, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Diddy Kong Racing.
Will post more later.
