Link's clothing, except for in TP, has always been brightly coloured (I didn't dig TP's washed-out look that much). The key to attaining a realistic look is not in the overall brightness/saturation, but avoiding intense highlights. Bright clothing, but not monotone like OOT or highlighted like SS (use subtle gradients, in other words) is the way to go.
