It's really not a better experience. The demos you see are with insanely strong networks completely over run by apple devices. That ensures speed and compatibility. Any x86 (Or whatever Mac, PC, Linux) Operating system will be better if you spend around $400 on it - cheaper than the ipad with more features AND multitasking (Not the crap apple claims to be multitasking)
Unless you ONLY use word processing, the ipad isn't the greatest. Keynote is lackluster, numbers is just meh. Pages seems to work good though.
From what I understand, it will connect to a printer. But still, at this point a laptop would be a better option
