I mean, I'm 20 now. I'm OLD enough now to start the building blocks of lung cancer that will no doubt strike when I'm an old man (smoking). Yet my brain is mature enough to know that risk if I take it. I choose not to. I would very much like to be able to breath on my own in my 80s.
