My problem with
TP has always been that the finale, where most Zelda games shine,
was emotionally hollow and unsatisfying. Complaints like easyness and
OoT cloning are
just petty in comparison. Nintendo sidestepped what could have been an
emotionally poignant final battle and settled for a ho-hum and forgettable duel with Ganondorf.
It was supposed to be Midna.
The tragedy of it all was that they had it set up so well.
In her possession was dark and overbearing power in the Fused Shadows. Because of those, she
accidentally snuffed out Zant. Because of those, she was able to turn into a Miyazaki-esque spider monster.
After Boar Ganon went into face mode, she decided to use the Fused Shadow to its fullest -
that's when I expected Miyazaki Midna, either driven to madness or heavily influenced by Ganon, to rain chaos over the world. Link would then have to step forward and use his sword to bring peace to Hyrule, and to her.
And the Miyazaki Midna spider was such an awesome presence. It's a shame it was wasted only on a cutscene. *sigh*
