When my brother and I were kids, we lived out in southern California in a desert valley. My brother was about to put one of his shoes on until a tarantula jumped out of it! I've never seen him run so fast in my life except for that day.

He's not afraid of spiders anymore, though. We both kind of adopted the same philosophy with spiders as with other bugs: "I see it, I kill it."
