Yeah Socialism would probably rule the world under a world government, exactly why I would be opposed to the idea. I would even prefer Anarcho-Capitalism rather than Socialism. Infact I would be pretty afraid of a world government that was too centralized. Anyways I'm not too sure about the need for a world government to get us into a 'Type 1' civilization. I do think within the next century you will see the rise in superstates. East Asian Union, Semitic Union, African Union, South American Union, and some kind of Pan-Turkic/Central Asian Union will either be formed or pre-existing ones will take a more powerful role. America seems to already be leading the world in space exploration as it is. And I doubt Humans anytime soon will come together and unite as one in the name of science. I honestly think corporations will do a lot for the emerging space age.
