Well, geez. xD You think Link went off to save Zelda just because. Well, yeah but I like to believe he was influenced by the time they had as children. Link's love relationships are ALWAYS viewed as one sided and you know it's because he doesn't talk. xD And in
OoT they couldn't fit in emotions for Link.
I think the reason Marin and Midna rank high up there (at least for me) is because they were extremely important to the storyline and they were also present for the majority of the game. There were random moments in LA when Marin would sing music with Link, or they would talk at the seashore. Or travel across the island. I have a hard time getting connected to a character that only spends 10 minutes on screen, which is Zelda in a nutshell. =\ (Basically why I wanted Zelda to be Link's partner in one of the games.)
