Hyrule Field - Unlocked Potential?

Now, I recognize the role of Hyrule Field in past Zelda Games, it is the massive expanse, the main theatre of transportation throughout the realms of Hyrule... Its area ranges from impressive to huge!

But what I don't understand, why hasn't the Kingdom tried to harvest the resources of Hyrule Fields?

The field seems overrun by monsters, you cant really find a soldier anywhere and you were lucky to come across the Running Man . It strikes me as odd that this important place is so void despite its importance to the Kingdom. Yet, there hasn't even been an effort by the kingdom to claim Hyrule Field, so even by the time of TP it is a haven for beasts.

With such a large place, who knows what resources and secrets it hides. Its great expance is large enough to accomadate growing settlements should they be properly defended.

But rather, Hyrule continues to suffer, possibly economical, militarily, and otherwise from the Kingdom's failure to actually seize this area.

This is not just a thread saying that Hyrule Fields are empty, that it needs to be more active, but also what should become of this major area. Should Hyrule Field be settled? Should it be more active, should you see guards and patrols? Trade Caravens?

Would it hurt game play if there were less monsters in Hyrule Field? I for one rarely stop to actually get into a prolonged fight and I feel that the game would also be better if there was more to fo in this massive expanse.

At that, if a game is a TP sequel, should they maintain Ordon Ranch or bring back Lon Lon, or have both present for competition?

Thoughts?
