Re: Should Zelda Have More Different Swords?

What I'd like to see is something like what MM had again. That is, a blacksmith shop where you can go get swords made. In MM, you could even bring them some gold so that you could get the final sword (and in this case, permanent one). I think it would be interesting to take this concept to a new level.

So, let's say that we've got a blacksmith shop. You can go there and select which metal you want to use (the better it is, the more it costs, obviously). You could have choices like Iron, Bronze, Silver, Steel, Platinum, so on and so forth. There could even be some mystical metals that you had to quest for and bring to them.

After this, you could decide whether the sword would be one or two handed and what kind of sword. Again, each would cost different amounts, and each would have their own weight, speed, damage, so on and so forth. Again, there could be some kind of "mythical" sword plans that you have to quest for and bring them that are superior to the available ones.

Now, this is just a very bare bones sort of thing. There could be all kinds of options. Perhaps certain gems set in the hilt could cause the sword to do elemental damage. Or if the blade was laced with a certain kind of metal, it could have other affects on the foe, such as stunning them, draining their health and giving it to you, etc.

This could even lend itself to some kind of plot point where the Master Sword is either destroyed throughout the course of the game, or was destroyed before the game, and at some point you have to quest for the materials, plans, etc. and have it reforged. So, my vote is yes, there should be more swords in Zelda.
