I think having a sidekick would be awesome--to a certain extent--in these games. What I mean by that is that I have found that sidekicks can get fairly annoying in certain games, as you need to look out for them, and you're screwed if they die. I like the idea of an off an on sidekick, one that you can call to help anytime when needed, and have them go away when needed too. Something like Midna, actually.
