City in the Sky ~ Lancarta (T)

Just a short (or long, idk yet  ) story my friends and I are working on. Mostly for entertainment -ya know? something to do when bordom attacks  - and for your enjoyment. I'd really appreciate any comments/critcism you ladies and gents have to offer!

The Story
The earth was becoming a desolate place. Time was running out for its denizens. However, a new energy was discovered that save mankind from the brink of desolation and provide them with unlimited power that would allow them to create a new place of dwelling. This energy was called Soul Energy, or SE, by the society that discovered it. The energy seemed to originate from outside the milky way galaxy, but some arrived to the earth by meteor.
The new energy, SE, was so powerful, they found out it could lift buildings and even cities into the sky with ease! So, all the dwellers of the earth worked together and constructed shuttles that ran on Soul Energy so that they could make it beyond the milky way galaxy and find a new place to reside.
They did just so and after a couple decades of work with the never ending Soul Energy, look how far it has brought them! In the middle of Lancarta -the first city ever built after mankind escaped their horrid fate- was The Great Portal, a huge gate that led to other floating cities.
Many seeked to control the portal, for whoever could claim the portal for their own, could gain access and rule over all of the floating cities. But, that's why Lancarta's Knights Academy was formed. People usually weren't affected by Soul Energy, but some seemed to be chosen by this energy. Chosen to protect it. Those people made up Lancarta's Knights, and created the academy that was to protect The Great Portal.
All races lived in peace, until... some chosen ones abused their powers and use it for evil. The Soul Energy wouldn't allow it, therefore these people were cursed by The Soul Energy and the only way they could live is by killing people and taking their blood, and using it to replenish their deteriorating bodies. That evil race were named, The Exiled.
Lancarta's Knights Academy
~It floats high above The Great Portal. Most action will take place around here... the residence of the protectors of The Great Portal. High ranked Knights dispatch from here on missions, otherwise it's a learning and training facility for other Knights. They take also take in Exiles who might be willing to change their ways.~
How it looks on the inside, except with out the people in robes ...

~This portal is at the center and capital of Lancarta. It leads to the other cities.~
Lancarta
~The first city ever created by mankind after they discovered Soul Energy and escaped he earth.~
