I had a friend of mine fall off a horse going bareback and hit a pole, and bruised her entire back - she had to hospitalized. Scary stuff. I've only ever rode Western, and that fastest I've gone was maybe a canter/trot - nothing exciting.
I only learned several parts of the horse, how to clean it, dress it, put the saddle on, feed it, and other small things like that. Woo. ;P
