The reason I ask is because Richard Alpert has never taken the role as leader. There's always Jacob -> Leader -> Richard Alpert. Alpert has been there since the begining, but he always takes the role as the Leader's right-hand man (and he even said that to young-Widmore saying that there's a rank everybody follows)
I hope some of the mystery of Richard is explained soon. He seems to always be present and plays an important role in things, yet nothing is known about him. Except he is usualy some sort of advisor to the leader, the compass has some special meaning to him, and he is apparently can't age.

You're right, there were other children. I had to double-check on the Known List of Oceanic Flight 815 Survivors and as far as we know Emma and Zach (siblings) are the only other children of the island, and they've been taken in with the Others.

And as for mothers dying from pregnancy, my only guess right now is the island is emiting so much radiation that it attacks the unborn babies and women giving birth. It's a weak theory, but that's all I have.
I hope they are somehow important later in some way. Right now they feel like they were somehow important but were forgotten.

You mean just like it was a coincidence that Jack (a surgeon) who fell from the sky and was the only person capable of saving Ben's life by having a surgery? Or maybe another coincidence of having Charlie (a musician) sent to the Looking Glass station (programed by a musician) and figuring out the code because he knows how to de-code the song "Good Vibrations"? Then yes, I'd say it was a great coincidence;)
Exactly. Every character I see, I wonder if they too have some greater purpose on the island and that the Island has somehow arranged for them to land on the island.

What I meant was, an H-bomb was the most powerful weapon they had during the 1950's, so that's why the military would use one to destroy the island. To make it clear, there's only one bomb...
Alright that makes sense. But what would prompt the US military to try and destroy the island? And why was the attempt a failure? I suppose it could be just a test. The way the bomb was posistioned, seems odd for the Others to place it in.

We don't know for a fact. Sure the Others could have followed Faraday's advice to bury it, or maybe they could have somehow (IDK, I'm not a scientist) used the power of the H-bomb to make a hatch.
I guess your right, but there isnt a whole lot you could do to with it.

Speaking of burried goods, who thinks that same trick will be pulled again for the people on the island? I mean, all you have to do is bury something in a location you think won't be discovered for X amount of years...sorta like a time-capsule, or should I say "A Mystery Box that gives you everything you ever wanted";)
Did we ever figure out how Locke's dad got to the island? Wouldnt surprise me if one of them stumbles upon a box, mysteriously filled with an item they need.

Wait...when has it been proven that the Smoke monster takes shape of different people/things? I never recalled anything like that. But speaking of the smoke monster, I wonder if it's around in the 1950's...we know it was there when Ben arrived (at least, I think I remember seeing it in that one episode)
I think the Smoke Monster is apart or 'works' for Jacob in some way. Ben was able to summon it with no explination on how. It could have been a defense Jacob gave the leader of the Others as a last defense kind of thing. But this is purely speculation.

For all we know, the smoke monster can only take shape of people whom have already died (on or off the island, it doesn't matter), or take shape of people from one's strong memories (which can be anybody)
So it isnt exactly confirmed. But the way Echo died, seemed to be similar to how the Smoke Monster kills. If it wasnt the Smoke Monster, then that means there is another creature roaming the Island. Then again, it wouldnt surprise me.

Since it's been confirmed (for awhile now) that we're only getting 6 seasons (and the final episode is going to be epic) & that Bad Robot Productions/J.J. Abrams have dipped their toes in the concept of making movies (Mission Impossible 3, Cloverfield, & Star Trek), Lost fans better get a movie of our own. Come on, with everything that's happened, I want any/all loose ends tied up in the movie if a great cliffhanger is going to be used in the season 6 finale (which apparently Matthew Fox already knows...).
A lost movie would be awesome. Its kinda sad that such a series is going to end. The last episode better be epic. Knowing Lost, I am sure it will. I just hope it doesnt end with a huge cliffhanger. I always find it annoying when a series ends with a cliffhanger. But I can only think of 2 examples at the moment The 4400 and X-files.

I think having all the loose ends in Lost tied up would feel almost unnatural.
