But Dark Link guarded the ToC. The old dude just hands it over when you beat Dark Link. Not much of a security system there.

He is just the person who will give the ToC to the person who defeat dark link just like the person who give the cup to the person who win the grand prix.
The king created that creature to give the triforce of courage to the person who defeat dark link.
