Doesn't mean anything. You don't know if the art was made by the same peple who made the guide, or the zelda team itself. Just because it appears in a player's guide doesn't mean that it's automatically not canon.

1. The art doesn't apear outside of the players guide.
2. The art director for the players guides (according to the one I have beside me) is AMerican and also helped write the players guide.
Anything else?
