I'd probably think that was clever if it didn't come from Bono, but since it comes from him it just irritates me .

Rather than literally comb through my library and posting my favourite lyrics, I'll just post my favourites from songs I am currently or was recently listening to. Observe:

Adam Duritz has always been a great lyricist, and while these aren't his best, the way the melody links up with them is absolutely fantastic. This is a fun song to lip-sync along with.

The best part is, it's probably true. Tom Waits is a weird guy.

The determination in the vocals makes this such an epic and grabbing chorus, the kind you shout at the top of your voice in unison with hundreds of other people. The last line is just one that I really dig.
