I'd probably think that was clever if it didn't come from Bono, but since it comes from him it just irritates me

Rather than literally comb through my library and posting my favourite lyrics, I'll just post my favourites from songs I am currently or was recently listening to. Observe:
"Give me a kiss, I think it feels like love,
Give me a kiss, I think it feels like sunshine.
Come on baby, light me up,
I wanna look into your eyes until I go blind.
...
Your mother made you out of smoke and rain,
Your mother made you in a fire that's fading.
...
Gotta stop breathing 'cause the sky is falling,
I think I might go out and watch the moon explode.
Give me directions to the highway crossing,
I'll go lie down in the middle of the road."

Sundays" by Counting Crows
Adam Duritz has always been a great lyricist, and while these aren't his best, the way the melody links up with them is absolutely fantastic. This is a fun song to lip-sync along with.
"I'll tell you all my secrets, but I lie about my past."

Tango 'til They're Sore" by Tom Waits
The best part is, it's probably true. Tom Waits is a weird guy.
"Once again we get attached, we think we've found the answer,
Here, here, here we go again.
Ran into many walls, but I know I'll get that answer,
Here, here, here we go again.
...
We love not wisely, but too well!"

Here We Go" by Shelter
The determination in the vocals makes this such an epic and grabbing chorus, the kind you shout at the top of your voice in unison with hundreds of other people. The last line is just one that I really dig.
ps this is what a post in this thread should resemble.
