Under my logic, it is expected that things continue in a rapid back-and-forth manner. Say something, do something, they say something, they do something, rinse & repeat.

It ensures fluidity, as well as ensuring the RP continues exactly as what it is titled. A role play. You play a role, they play a role. The roles played out together write the story. The objective isn't story writing. The objective is exploring interaction in a (usually fantastic) different environment than regular life.
