The magic is powerful but remember, the types he is good at are mostly none combat for the most part, (Light, Water, Earth, Air and Mind) with shadow being the only one that is majorly offensive.
Holy, Thunder, Ice and Fire are what I would see as combat spells. They may be powerful, but remember that Jonah isn't very good with them and will probably never use them.

And yes, these elves do have Titanium. If you've got insane mages hurling fireballs all over the place you're going to need something a teeny bit stronger than iron.
