For things like that, I must admit I'm partial to
Orbiter, another freeware space game. But Orbiter's more of a flight sim than simply a "cruise around the galaxy looking at stuff." It has pretty pictures (and you can download ultra-high-res texture versions of various things like Earth, Mars, and some rather decent resolution stuff for other planets and satellites in the star system.
Sadly, nothing outside Sol. But still. You can fly up to the ISS and dock with it and stuff. As close to real physics as possible, to, so it's sorta a ***** to get into orbit with something like the Space Shuttle. (Conveniently, there's things in the game that are easier to fly.)
I'd provide a screenshot, but I don't have any decent image editing program currently installed, and for me to give you a .bmp (or even a .jpg) of my screen resolution would MURDER 90% of connections out there.

Actually, here you go. Raided from the internets. On my game, I have vastly better atmospheric effects, so it has a lovely diffused light all along the horizon. But, alas.
