“I guess I could. I don’t have anything planned today, so why not?” Arin responded.

“Really?” Vitros asked. Judging from the look on his face, the rainbow-clad mage could tell he hadn’t received any warm welcomes or such hospitality in quite a while. It all even out in his mind, since he hadn’t been this hospitable in just as long, if not, longer.

“Really.” Arin assured him. “Truth be told, there isn’t much of interest in such a boring old prairie city such as this… except for the fact it’s the provincial capital. Other then that, it’s just plain dull, you know?”

The ice mage merely nodded and smiled, causing an awkward silence to prevail over the morning meal. Words uttered to Arin earlier reverberated in his mind as he finished off the last of the bacon and eggs. He didn’t train at a school. Does that mean he can do magic at full power without a staff, or a wand, or anything?

With those thoughts, his gaze inadvertently shifted over to his prized Crystal Staff. It shined in the morning light like a new penny, throwing reflected light onto the soft carpet of the room in strange patterns. It wasn’t very often that he would just sit there and look at it like it belonged in a museum, even thought it did since no other human had the honour to wield an Elven Crystal Weapon before.

Finishing off his breakfast, he stood up then walked over to collect his staff. “So,” Arin asked Vitros. “Where would you like to go first?”
