I was going through the game recently, and I managed to get the fire rod before level one. I came back from fishing, and, well... I suddenly found myself in Hell... It was fun in Hell... Nothing made any sense, and opened a chest in a rather generic room and got it. I accedently saved, and now I have a Fire Rod to play with. It's fun...

Back on topic, I like the boomerang. It's the most powerful Zelda weapon of all time!!! How else do you kill a boss in 1 hit in a Zelda game, excluding the unholy triforce?
