Well that's just the thing - I can't find another one. All I can find is that stupid article posted at a bunch of sites. Valor, you started this thread. Maybe you could find the official statement?

I'm not denying that this is happening - it's just fairly obvious that there's more to it than these people say. It would be pretty unfair to judge this entirely based on someone else's interpretation, non?

EDIT: If that article is any indication of the actual bill, then it's not at all what that radio show or that blog post said it was. The bill actually proposes that homeschooled people who don't take any exit exams or equivalency test are not to be treated as though they have real high school diplomas. To me that sounds perfectly fair - homeschooling is often (though not always) an easy way out of a standard education. As the article points out, it is much easier for a homeschooled kid to pass than it is to pass public school, because all you need in homeschooling is participation. If you simply took a GED test, you would be homeschooled and have a high school-equivalent degree. This way, the students who just participated and had no results are filtered out. I would hardly call that "only hiring the lesser educated."

So how did that load of crap start? My guess is that, since homeschoolers have averaged slightly higher on some standardized tests, people are twisting this to equate "homeschool" with "smart" and "public school" with "lesser educated." This is of course insignificant, because if you are in fact smarter, you can very easily take the GED test to prove it.
