Because violence helps as a general rule.

They have a point. People in state schools aren't educated to fulfill the best of their ability: They're trained to obey, so the elite (The rich who are generally privately educated) can lead them in a throughly elitist aristocratic way. This is particularly evident in English schools, where the exams you take are based partially on how much money your parents earn, and what part of town you live in. From birth you are classed -- if you grew up in a caravan, people seem keen to keep you there.

This is assuming the media is broadcasting anything other than the usual absolute crap. Maybe this is based off a single case: Maybe one person from an extreme Mormonisitic/Catholic/Atheist/etc. school was applying for head of education. Having anyone being indoctrinated in such a way is, potentially, dangerous.

I don't think that something you glimpsed off the radio is substantial enough in any way to know what's going on, judge it, or start hitting people. It's entirely possible this is just something the media has blown out of proportion -- as they so often do.
